Other SLT Services
Bespoke training can be provided for clients, families and health professionals including support workers, rehabilitation assistants, therapists, case managers, medics and other professionals who are keen to learn more about:
a specific client's needs. This might include family members or the academic or workplace who want to know more about how to help their relative or employee to manage day-to-day tasks, to optimise work performance, or the best ways to provide care or use specialised communication aids / equipment.
Specific topics that Neuro-SLTs are knowledgeable about such as a specific condition (brain injury, stoke) and the disorders this leads to (such as cognitive communication disorder or aphasia).
Specific treatment techniques in SLT that we are experienced in.
All therapists benefit from clinical supervision in order to monitor the quality of their work with clients and also to address the best possible way forward to their professional and personal development.
Individual practitioners are legally responsible for meeting the HCPC standards and UK legislation related to supervision. RCSLT recommends managerial and professional supervision for all SLT's.
Self-employed clinicians need to ensure that they maintain a robust supervision arrangement and system of professional support.
A supervisor helps a clinician reflect and develop. This can cover discussion of their role, the interface between personal and professional, how they wish to develop, helping them to link theory and practice and to formulate hypotheses for complex cases.
The supervisor also shares their own experience, decision making and interpretation with the supervisee’s observations, experiences and information gathering.
The key to good supervision is a collaborative and interactive process that monitors the quality of client care, improves clinical skills and facilitates personal and professional growth.
We have experience in both ‘direct meeting’ and Skype types of supervision. We have provided supervision to therapists and assistants / support staff working in statutory services, independent practice, care environments or emerging roles.
