Clare Ford
SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSISTANT / NEURO REHAB ASSISTANT
Clare has worked as a teacher in both mainstream and special schools/colleges for over 30 years. Before gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Kingston University, she graduated from Camberwell School of Art where she studied 3D Design.
Following a few years working in community arts, she moved onto teaching in schools where she continued to use a creative approach to all aspects of education. Clare followed her interest in supporting children with additional needs when she moved to special education settings, including those for young people with communication and complex needs. For three years she worked as the Head of a Communication and Interaction Needs Centre before working as a Specialist Teacher in a school that provides education for children and young people with a recently acquired brain injury during their residential short-stay rehabilitation placement. In this setting, Clare has worked closely with a multi-disciplinary team, incorporating their strategies and targets into her work with young people.
Throughout her career Clare has enjoyed working with people of all ages and abilities in a wide variety of settings.
